Queensland first: Woolworths Skygate opens 24 hours
Skygate, Brisbane Airport’s retail precinct located off Airport Drive, will become more convenient than ever before when Queensland’s first Woolworths starts 24-hour trading on Monday 1 July 2013.
General Manager of Brisbane Airport Corporation’s property division BNE Property, Ms Renaye Peters, welcomed Woolworths’ 24-hour trading to Skygate and believes the move is a major coup for the precinct, Brisbane travellers and the people who live and work nearby.
“Skygate’s unique position and unparalleled connectivity makes it the perfect location for a 24-hour full-sized Woolworths supermarket,” Ms Peters said.
“Operating 24 hours a day, seven days a week, Brisbane Airport attracts more than 20 million travellers each year. There are also more than 20,000 people, many of whom are shift workers, who work at the 420 plus businesses located on airport, as well as our strong and growing local community from the neighboring suburbs. This is a significant market base to take advantage of shopping around the clock seven days a week.
“Skygate is really making its mark in Brisbane as the name for convenience for shopping, business and leisure and Woolworths’ 24-hour trading is a perfect fit with this and our future vision for the precinct,” she said.
Skygate is already a vibrant retail, commercial and lifestyle precinct which has over 130 retail, café and dining options including DFO, Woolworths and Dan Murphy’s. There’s also a 4.5 star hotel, commercial buildings and construction is underway on Golf Central, a golf leisure centre, due to open in late 2013.
Woolworths Skygate is located at The Village Markets, 1-7 The Circuit, Skygate.
